New Ford Ranger Pickup Coming to Detroit

Midsize pickup trucks vanished from the market for a few years, but lately, demand for them is climbing again due to their ease of driveability and great fuel economy without losing the capability of a pickup truck. Rumors have been swirling for some time that Ford has plans to bring back a new Ford Ranger, and those rumors have solidified lately, especially with the unveiling of the upcoming model at the Detroit Auto Show.

The new Ford Ranger will be competing in the same segment as the much-loved Chevrolet Colorado and the Toyota Tacoma. While Ford takes the rest of its lineup in the direction of city-smart connectivity, the upcoming Ranger is a departure from those plans, keeping solid roots in the truck segment where Ford’s F-series family of trucks have reigned supreme for decades.

The Ford Ranger also has not completely disappeared from the brand’s lineup. The Ranger continued being sold overseas despite not being available in the U.S., and experts speculate the newer model will bear a resemblance to current models of the pickup elsewhere.

The new Ford Ranger launches in the U.S. following Ford’s recognition of the midsize pickup segment as meeting the demands of customers who want a vehicle that is capable, yet fun to drive. We at Jimmy Michel Motors are eager for the new Ford Ranger to be revealed sometime during the course of 2018.
